I know it’s a late post for year-end countdown (Date Posted: February 2012). But as they say, it’s better late than never. I’ll still be counting down my hottest songs of 2011 and it starts with:
15) Someone to Love Me (Naked) – Mary J. Blige ft. P. Diddy & Lil’ Wayne
Mary J. Blige is effortless in this track. She can really sing and stay cool all at the same time.
14) Looking for Love – P. Diddy ft. Usher
It’s not a better collaboration when compared to I Need A Girl (Part 1) in 2002.
13) Look at Me Now – Chris Brown ft. Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne
Chris Brown must be grateful with Busta Rhymes. This track is doper because of him.
12) Collard Greens & CornBread – Fantasia Barrino
After winning American Idol in 2004 and winning a Grammy in 2011, Fantasia has not received the recognition she deserves in Collard Greens & Cornbread. This was one of the biggest mistakes this music industry and fans have done.
11) Second Chance – El De Barge
The most inspiring song of 2011.
10) How to Love – Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne at his dopest – nothing more to say.
9) Best Thing I Never Had – Beyonce
Beyonce released more than four music videos from her 2011 studio album. The track “Best Thing I Never Had” is no competition at all with her other singles. It’s clearly the “sequel” of her song Irreplaceable in 2006.
8.) I’m on One – DJ Khale ft. Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne
I rarely like rap songs. But I’m on One is a lot different. I couldn’t stop listening to it once I heard it for the first time.
7) The Lazy Song – Bruno Mars
This is my most favorite song by Bruno Mars. It’s cool, it’s fun and I can relate to it.
6) Anything (To Find You) – Monica ft. Missy Elliot, Lil Kim & Rick Ross
At last, the old school hip-hop is back. Thank you Monica!
5) Love Faces – Trey Songz
I wondered why this track did not get as much attention as I expected to. It has not reached the #1 in R&B Billboard Chart, though, it’s certainly one of the powerful tracks by Trey that I can’t forget.
4) Rolling in the Deep – Adele
Rolling in the deep is 2012 Grammy’s Record of the Year and it’s also one of the biggest heartbreaking songs that’s worth listening to even you’re in a serious romantic relationship.
3) Down On Me – Jeremih ft. 50 Cent
When the weather is hot and your head is aching – go out, chill in the beach and make sure to keep listening to this track right after.
2) Stitch by Stitch – Javier Colon
The Voice is certainly a singing competition laid out in a different format. Its four mentors (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera) are all credible, they know what they are talking about and I’m glad that in the end, the Americans chose a deserving first season winner. That’s none other than Javier Colon.
1) Sure Thing – Miguel
I never expected this song to also top the 2011 R&B Billboard Year-end Chart. It’s surely the biggest thing by Miguel!
