Big Thanks to Darren Cahill and Scot Brynes! Ana Ivanovic, the former World No. 1 in the WTA Ciruit for twelve weeks after her Maiden Grand Slam Win at Roland Garros 2008, has made another miracle leap coming to Wimbledon 2009. Her first round win with the Czench (Lucie Hradecka) was reportedly a rollercoaster of nerves, thrills and surprises. Almost every tennis editors expected an early exit from the young Serb but Ivanovic survived a 3-5 deficit from the Italian hard-hitter (Sara Errani) to stay at the Championships (7-5, 6-1).
Ana Ivanovic was not contented and stunned rising Australian superstar Samantha Stosur in the third round (7-5, 6-2). The Wimbledon Semifinalist in 2007 fired five aces and produced 73% of her net approaches. See the statistics here: Ana Ivanovic vs Samantha Stosur
Just the best of luck to Ana Ivanovic when she faces the five-time Wimbledon Queen (Venus Williams) who outplayed her in 2007. Ivanovic defeated Williams in straight sets during the quaterfinals at Australian Open 2008 but the story is all different now, it’s the green grass and it’s Venus Homeground. But, miracles still happen and tennis is not as predictable as you think.
