Nole Outlasted Tsonga in Miami

For the last four matches he had with Tsonga, I wonder why Novak Djokovic struggled in ousting him when he was successful in bombing down the Frenchman in Australian Open 20008. But now, something so big happened in SE Open in Miami… Nole blasted Tsonga in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 despite of a hot and humid weather.

This is the coolest part for Djokovic! He knows to wow his supporters. He might not be invincible as Nadal, not too mighty like Federer and in-fence with fearlessness-spunk of Murray but still, Nole ‘s triumph is like a surprise.

But, look, its just incredible the way I stood up and tried to survive out there on the court.

His victory in Shanghai Masters last year was unexpected. Luck did play a big role in his triumph in Dubai in February this year. And now, he was in the last four of Miami, that just WOW!

Talking about his match with Tsonga, Djokovic “saved three break points in a lengthy fourth game of the match, Tsonga then surrendered his serve for the first time in the tournament to trail 2-4 and could not recover the deficit as Djokovic went on to close out a one-set lead. Djokovic broke serve once again in the fifth game of the second set to go on and open up a 4-2 lead. The Serbian faced two break points at 4-3, and was again under pressure as he served for the match at 5-4 – but he denied Tsonga on two more break-back opportunities before closing out victory in one hour and 55 minutes. “In the last couple of matches we’ve played, I was just — for no reason — waiting for him to make shots or the mistakes. Today, I tried to be closer to the line, more in control, just put the pressure on him.”

Greg Garber of ESPN commented on Nole’s gameplan;

“Confidence. This is the currency of professional tennis — or any other sport, for that matter. Djokovic has an opportunity to regain it in large measure with a win in Friday’s semifinal…” either against Federer or Roddick.
