Book Review: The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Done reading and watching the animated film, THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR by Eric Carle.

Author’s Writing Style ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣: Now that I’m an adult, I miss listening to children’s story like this. Somehow, it awakens the child in me and genuinely appreciates the simple things in life. It is written for young children; therefore, I expect it to be fun.

Character Development ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣: Excellently done. It focuses on the caterpillar. I get to realize how simple a caterpillar’s lifestyle is – just finding food to survive. As human beings in urban area, it is impossible to live just by eating. You need a house to protect yourself from cold and heat. You need to work every day. You need to learn how to budget. We are more than a caterpillar, indeed.

Plot ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣: It is a children short story of a caterpillar who never stops eating. He eats fruits and pastries until one day, he decides to hide himself into a cocoon to rest.

My overall score: ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
