Survivor Insights 95: “Don’t Get Too Confident” (Episode 7)

1) David Survives: Having the confidence is a good thing. There is a need for you to feel confident in anything you do. Whether you’re a student, a businessman, a host, a tennis player, a football player, you need to learn how to have confidence to be successful. That’s how David escaped the boot. He felt confident but at the same time, he knew it’s time for him to scramble and be a hard worker around the camp to save his skin.

Two thumbs up for his argument in Tribal Council!

David certainly knew how to protect himself by saying the right words in order to be heard. His argument did not sound so rehearsed unlike the last episode.

Sarita, on the other hand, chose to be too confident. She trusted her alliance a lot but that does not mean she would not bring her personal stuffs. She knew her chances and if you ask me, her overflowing confidence destroyed her. Whether it’s real life or you’re playing the game, it’s not healthy at all to be very confident. Having too much confidence in yourself could lead to overbearing and this can frustrate you in the end. Look what happened to her.

2) One More Win or Lose Everything: In tennis, win five consecutive matches and you are the overall champion in an ATP 250 Tournament. In SURVIVOR, Matt won five duels in a row means he just needs to win one more duel to return in the game. Matt or Sarita. Sarita or Matt. It’s always 50-50 and either one of them is not my pre-show bets. But, come on, admit it folks, Matt deserves to win. Three of his five duels against Francesca, Russel, Kristina, Krista and Stephanie were shaky. He could have lose but he never gave up.

That’s why; it is not enough to describe his consistency as “Unbelievable!” “Incredible” or “Fantastic!” I already used those terms in my previous posts and I won’t use it again.

3) The Crash Course: This was a challenge I can remember. It was an even fight. Six versus six and all of them did their part to win. Ometepe took an early lead but David put Zapatera in a possible strong finish. The “basketball” part was tricky. The real key was to control the ball even it’s up in the air. Zapatera almost got it but, it was Grant’s superb ability to mix the right combination of control and precision to land the sixth and final ball inside the basket. Ometepe won an immunity for the third time!

4) Merge!: Every SURVIVOR Loyal Fan, myself included, is waiting for this moment. The game will change gears in which Ometepe/Zapatera are no more. Twelve of them will live in one camp together and things will be crazier as expected.

Who will benefit by this merge? Who will lost his or her cool? Should Matt win the final duel, which direction he’ll go? Will Andrea join him to oust Boston Rob? If yes, will Boston Rob play his hidden idol the way it should be played? Will David stay loyal to Zapatera alliance after what Mike, Steve and Julie did? Who will be the first jury member?

Can’t wait for Episode 8.

  1. Well done by Dave at tribal council. Ralph stuck with Sarita, so that tells me that Dave changed Steves, Julies and Mikes vote, or at least I think. Dave completely out did Sarita in the challenge, but thank god he did. To me, Sarita got a big head even when she was voted off she called herself a better competitor than Dave.

It’s funny but I feel like Boston Rob keeps pulling Phillip back into the tribe. After, they won the challene Phillip seemed completely fine. Though, Phillip is now an obvious flip I’m doubting his ability to do anything.

I didn’t like the Redemption Island duel between Stephanie and Matt. I didn’t think it required much skill, especially since the first turns flipped over matches. I hope Matt wins to get back in the game. I wonder if he was serious about working with Boston Rob again, cause that would be strange.

    • Episode 7 is the best episode yet since Episode 3. This is clearly David’s episode, not Sarita’s. this is exactly what I want to see in David. I want to see him fight for his life even things are falling into pieces. It’s nice to see him scramble without saying “I am a loser, I quit.” I just don’t get why he did not fix the problem he has with Sarita. Perhaps, we just did not see the whole thing or did Sarita say things and could hurt Dave so bad?

The Final Duel looks like a test of endurance and it will be tough for Matt if he is badly injured. Sarita has 60% chance if that’s the case. I won’t be in total shock if Sarita upsets Matt in Redemption Island. It will be a nice entertainment to watch though it’s a bad entertainment.

  2. I think Sarita stayed away from Dave, she said she didn’t trust him a bunch of times. I came into this season thinking Dave was going to be extremely good. Last episode was what I was expecting too, but maybe the fact the Russell was on his team changed his approach to the game. I’ll be completely shocked if Sarita wins. Matt has faced much tougher competition. And from what everyone says Sarita is terrible in challenges.

    • Either Sarita or Matt wins, four of my bets are still alive and I am pretty sure this merge will benefit two or three of them. Andrea will definitely be in a good position especially if Matt returns in the game. I expect Mike could probably be a physical threat in Immunity Challenges against Grant. Natalie is also safe, so is David if they will join the right alliance. I just hope David will not take a big risk this time. One wrong mistake for him could be his demise and that’s not dope at all. How about you? I know it’s too early to tell but who do you think will be the final four?

  3. Right now I think Boston Rob has a clear shot to the final four. In that case I think Rob will backstab Grant at some point and take Natalie, Ashley, and I think someone from the other tribe will work their way into the final four maybe Julie. I feel like even if the other tribe guns for Rob, David will flip and Rob is too smart for them and plus he has an idol no one knows about. I can’t wait for the individual immunities to see Grant, Matt, Rob, and Mike go against each other, that look like it will be good. Who knows maybe Andrea will win a couple, she seems strong.

  4. Me too. I am looking forward watching Individual Immunity Challenges. Boston Rob does not need it if he keeps his alliance tight and strong. Perhaps, he can dominate again. Back in All-Stars, he won the most number of challenges – right? Some mental challenges will also be interesting to watch especially if David is winning.

As for the women, Julie seems physically fit to win challenges. I just don’t know how hungry she is to outplay the Alpha Men.
